How to get to Chitwan national park?

There are various ways to get into Chitwan national park like:

By air: By air is the best means of transportation to get into Chitwan. From Kathmandu, it is just 20 minutes of flight towards Bharatpur which is the nearest airport to Chitwan. From, Bharatpur airport, it will take short drive towards Chitwan.

By road: There are two types of transport while travelling by road which are by private jeep and by tourist bus. If you want to travel with your friends group only then, you can hire private jeep. Hiring a private jeep will be a little bit costly. If you don’t want to expend extra money on transportation then you can take tourist bus which is the most common economical options. It takes around 5 to 6 hours with its steep forest-covered hills and farming villages. We will take a scenic drive beside the Ridge of Trishuli River.

Packing list for Chitwan national park tour

Chitwan national park is situated in the Terai region of Nepal so it is better to know about the weather and temperature before embarking here. The basic things, you have to pack before embarking here is:

Clothes: long sleeves shirt and pant, light jacket and sweater for cooler evening, comfortable shoes or hiking boots, sun hat and cap for sun protection.

Accessories: sunscreen, sunglass, small bag pack for day trip, water bottle, camera, power bank, extra batteries of camera, binoculars for wildlife viewing, insect repellent.

While exploring here, you are highly recommended to check the rules of national park regarding what you can do or bring and what you can’t do or can’t bring. You also requested to carry photocopy of your passport and extra passport-sized photos. While hiking here, you are requested to wear neutral colors clothes to avoid drawing attentions. It will be difficulty to blend with surrounding if you wear bright color, so neutral colors are preferable. There is a high chance of getting bitten by the insect so it is necessary to carry insect repellent because you will be in the center of dense forest.

Best time for Chitwan wildlife tour

On your comfortable level, the best time for tour is autumn and spring if you want to travel with pleasant weather, with average temperature around 25 degree Celsius. It has extreme heat in the summer and freezing in the winter and many tourists might be unsure about the optimal time to visit Chitwan.

You can also visit the Chitwan national park on summer, if you can handle hot and muggy atmosphere. It is also good to hike in the winter, but there will be fogs everywhere which obscure the sight of the surrounding town and jungle. However, each season offers its unique allure, from the pleasant, warm temperature, and the chance to witness wildlife and bird migration.

Accommodation: On this Chitwan national park tour, we will spend 3 nights at Kathmandu valley and 2 nights Chitwan at the deluxe 3-star hotels. At Chitwan, we will be on a twin-sharing basis. Single room is also provided if there are any girls in the group. If you need private single room then you have to pay extra cost. The hotels are luxury and offers great facilities better than trekking on the high Himalayan.
