About Gosaikunda Heli Tour
Gosaikunda is an alpine freshwater lake, located in the Langtang National Park (north of Kathmandu valley) at an altitude of 4380m. This lake is also the source of the whitewater rafting river - Trishuli. There are various other lakes and the Lauribina La Pass on its outskirts. Gosaikunda lake is famous among trekkers and adventurers as a part of the Dhunche - Helambu Trekking Route. The freshwater lake at such an altitude is among the highest situated lakes in Nepal. Gosaikunda Lake also carries religious significance to the Hindu Community as it is believed to be the holy abode of Lord Shiva and Gauri. It is believed that this lake was created when Lord Shiva thrust his Trident (Trishul) into a mountain to fetch some water after he had swallowed poison. The lake remains frozen for half of the year.
We will leave early in the morning to the Kathmandu Domestic Airport and fly early to the lake. After approx. 30 minutes of flying in choppers, we will be arriving at the lake. The pilot will show you the way and the lake which you will be exploring on your own. Around 15 minutes of exploring the lake and the majestic views, we will end the short tour after we fly back to the airport.
