The peak runs south from Chako Peak in a north-south direction along the Nar, Phu, and Hunlung Khola.

Chulu West Peak Climbing difficulty

Chulu west peak is challenging and difficult, where climbers must have physical fitness, technical skills, and experience before embarking on this peak. There are lots of peak in Nepal that do not need any climbing experience, but to climb Chulu west, you must have climbed experience. If you are beginner’s climbers, then it is not a good idea to climb this peak. While climbing this peak, we have to climb at least 6000m from sea level. So, altitude sickness is the most common difficulty which climbers must face while climbing. Accommodation is not a problem here, but you have to spend at least 4 nights in a tent. It is also necessary to know how to use climbing equipment like crampons, ice axes, ropes, etc.

Useful Information

Accommodation and food

Accommodation: In these 19 days of Chulu west peak climbing, we have to spend 3 nights in Kathmandu and 1 night in Pokhara and 14 days at high altitude. You will get luxury and comfortable rooms in cities, but you have to spend your time in basic lodges with basic facilities. In high altitude, you have to spend 9 nights in lodges and rest 5 nights in a tent. The lodges have small rooms with two beds, pillows, blankets, and basic furniture. In the high altitude, you have to share bathrooms with other climbers. A single room is provided if there is a girl in the group. If you want a single room, then you have to pay extra. While climbing Chulu west peak, climbers are requested to bring sleeping bags with you because we are going to spend 5 nights in a tent and some time the blanket which is provided by the lodge is not enough.

Food: In the city area, it is not a problem, but the company will provide three times meal. Nowadays, on the way, lodges are opened, which provide accommodation and meals. While trekking at a lower altitude, you will get western and typical Nepalese cuisine. But at higher altitude, at some point, you will get typical Nepalese food only, which gives energy to your body while climbing. The higher you climb; the cost of food will also become expensive.

Is it possible to climb Chulu west solo?

If you are planning to climb Chulu west peak, then you must know that climbing solo is not possible. While climbing Chulu west or other peak of Nepal is not allowed for safety hazard. If you take a climbing and trekking guide with you, then you are allowed to climb solo. Without any guide and porter, solo climbers are not allowed to climb any peaks in Nepal. So, it is better to take a climbing guide and porter with you if you want to climb alone without any group. It is only for peak climbing; if you trek to the base camp, then you can trek independently without any guide and porter.

Best time to climb Chulu west peak

Before embarking on peak climbing or any trekking, it is better to know the right time to visit there. For Chulu west peak, autumn and spring are the best time to visit.

Autumn season: Autumn, the weather is warm and perfect for climbing. It is an ideal season for Chulu west peak climbing. The weather and temperature in this season are stable, with clear skies and better visibility.

Spring season: It is the best time to visit Chulu west peak because in this season, you will get an opportunity to see astonishing scenery of dense forest covered by colorful rhododendron everywhere with a mesmerizing Mountain View.

It is better not to visit in the winter and summer seasons. It is because in winter, the weather and temperature are freezing cold, and due to fog, the scenery is not so clear. In summer, due to rain, the trail is muddy and slippery.
