About Kathmandu Lhasa Everest Base Camp Motorbiking Tour
Your adventure begins in Kathmandu, the vibrant capital of Nepal, where you'll arrive and settle in before exploring its rich cultural heritage, including Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple). The next day, final preparations and Tibet travel permits will be completed before setting off towards the Nepal-Tibet border. The ride starts with a journey to Syabrubesi, passing through the stunning Trishuli River Valley before reaching the border town.
Crossing into Tibet at Rasuwagadhi-Kerung, you'll officially enter the Tibetan Plateau, experiencing a dramatic change in landscape and altitude. The ride continues through the breathtaking Lalung La Pass (5,050m) before reaching Tingri, offering the first views of towering Himalayan peaks. The highlight of the tour comes as you ride to Rongbuk Monastery (5,000m) and Everest Base Camp (5,200m), standing face to face with Mount Everest (8,848m), a surreal and unforgettable moment. After soaking in the majestic views, the journey descends to Shigatse, home to the historic Tashilhunpo Monastery, and then onto Lhasa, the spiritual heart of Tibet.
In Lhasa, you'll explore the magnificent Potala Palace, once the winter residence of the Dalai Lama, along with the sacred Jokhang Temple and the bustling Barkhor Street. Leaving Lhasa, the ride continues towards Gyantse, passing the mesmerizing Yamdrok Lake and crossing high-altitude passes like Kamba La (4,790m). The journey then leads back through Shegar and Kerung, eventually returning to Kathmandu, where a farewell dinner celebrates the completion of this epic Himalayan expedition.
