About Tsum Valley Trek

Manaslu Tsum valley trek is the hidden gem with the mesmerizing views of the world 8th highest mountain “Mt Manaslu”. This beautiful trek begins from Sotikhola by following the bank of the Bhudi Gandaki. With the landscapes of patchwork meadows, terraced field, and the beautiful Ganesh Himal range placed bathed in the glow of its peaceful inhabitants. From the restricted trekking route of Nepal it is one of them. It is located in the lap of Mother Nature, incredibly beautiful which have a charm of its own. The trail follows the bank of Bhudi Gandaki, tracking back and forth across the river through many suspension bridges.

Trekking on this route gives an opportunity to learn about Nepalese and Tibetan culture, history, and way of life are a beautiful max. The trek takes the visitor into the heavenly landscapes of the remote region. It is one of the newly noted trekking route which takes on a natural and cultural trips of Tsum valley in the western region. The beautiful trail covers the forests, terraced field, and following Bhudi Gandaki River with rich Tibetan culture and tradition. Along the way, the trail takes you through pine and rhododendron woods and the Siyara Khola.

In Nepal, there are almost 15 restricted trekking areas in Nepal, from them Manaslu Tsum Valley trek is one of them. To embarking in this area, you need to take a special trekking permit with you. Without special trekking permit, you are not allowed to enter this area. Solo trekking is not allowed in this beautiful trekking. The trail takes you through the beautiful villages of this region like Larke La Pass, Samagaun, Samdo and reaches near the Tibet border. On this trekking, a visitor gets an opportunity to get into the remote region of Nepal with many monasteries, chortens, and other monuments along the trail.

Preparation for Tsum valley trek

Trekking in this Himalayan needs a great deal of endurance and strength. Before embarking on this route, trekker needs to be physically and mentally fit. You are strongly requested to exercise frequently to prepare yourself for this adventurous trek. The exercises like swimming, go hiking go run go to the gym and cycling makes your body strong for the trek.

Physical fitness: At Manaslu Tsum valley, you have to walk several hours which needs a great deal of endurance and strength. On this trek, we have to walk often on steep and rocky terrain at the high altitude. So you need to be physically fit to embarking the trek. To keep physically fit, you need to do exercise like swimming, hiking, running, and cycling before embarking the route. Trekking in Tsum valley test your stamina and endurance so physically fit.

Gear: For the comfortable trekking, you need a good quality bag pack. You should pack comfortable shoes and hiking boots, long sleeves t-shirt, trekking trouser, sleeping bag, down jacket, woolen socks, headlamp, sunglasses, sun cream, hat, gloves, camera, extra batteries of camera, first-aid kits, and other essential things for trekking.

Tsum valley trek is the hidden gem of Nepal which gives an opportunity to explore in the remote region of Nepal. We will start our journey from Kathmandu valley with a scenic drive to Manaslu region. From Kathmandu valley, we will drive toward Machha Khola. From Machha Khola, we will start our walking journey. On this trek, we get an opportunity to enter many villages like Jagat, Lokpa, Dumje, Nile, Mu Gompa, Renchen Gompa, and other beautiful villages of this area. The trek also gives opportunity to cross Larkya la pass. On this trek, we will enter Annapurna conservation area. On this trek, we will enter two conservation area of Nepal which Annapurna and Manaslu.

Accommodation and Food

Accommodation: Tsum valley is one of the most popular trekking destinations of Nepal. So for accommodation a lot of lodges are built in every place of Tsum valley. In this Tsum valley trek, we will spend 3 nights in Kathmandu valley where you get luxury and comfortable hotel to spend overnight. In the Manaslu region, we will spend 18 nights in the lodges. The lodges have small comfortable rooms with two beds, pillow, blanket, mattress, and basic furniture. You have to share bathrooms with other trekkers. You are also suggesting bringing sleeping bag with you because the blanket which is provided by lodges is not enough sometime.

Food: For food, you will get both western and Nepali cuisine. Most of the local people of the region open lodges and teahouses because of tourist who visit here every year. The higher you trek the cost of food is also become expensive with height.

Trekking permit for Tsum valley trek

For trekking in this Tsum valley, we need at least 3 trekking permits. To trek here, we need Manaslu Restricted Area Permit, Manaslu conservation area permit, and Annapurna conservation area permit. The cost of restricted area permit is USD 100 per person for the first four weeks and USD 15 per day for added days. For Manaslu and Annapurna conservation area, you have to pay USD 30 per person for the foreigner and NRP 1000 for the SAARC country. You are also informed that solo trekking is not allowed in this region. You must have at least two people group with you before embarking in this area with guide or porter.
