About Barpak Homestay Tour

Barpak Homestay Tour is also known as Gorkha Barpak homestay tour which is located on the northern belt of Gorkha district. This beautiful village is located at 1900m elevation from sea level which is approximately 179 kilometers away from Kathmandu valley. It is the most beautiful village of Gorkha District where 1200 houses with approximately 15000 population mainly Ghale and Gurung people. The beautiful village gives you an extraordinary landscapes view with mesmerizing views of mountain like Manaslu, Sringi, Lamjung, Boudha, and Manapathi which are simply awe-inspiring. Most of the houses of this beautiful village have a basic facility like internet, electricity, education and easily can reach by bus expect in monsoon season.

On 25th April 2015 the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that stuck in Nepal which center point was this beautiful village. The earthquake has left the terrible death, destruction and desperation, unsurpassed in the history of Barpak. Almost 1000 of houses were collapsed, 68 people lost their lives, and 6000 people displaced from their homes. After earthquake, the village has very basic homestay and most of the houses of this village are under construction. This beautiful village offers the breathtaking natural beauty which melts the hearts of visitors. It also offers to get into lush forest, and the rich culture and tradition of the local people.

How to get into Barpak village?

To start the tour, we will take a tourist bus to dive towards Gorkha Bazaar. From Kathmandu, it is 5 hours of drive to get into Gorkha bazaar. Before entering Gorkha Bazaar, we will cross many small cities of Nepal with mesmerizing views of mountain and natural beauty. The drive takes you following the winding roads, crossing riversides and hilltops. After reach in Gorkha Bazaar, we will take a local jeep to move towards Barpak. It is 1 or 2 hours of drive which is 47 kilometers far from Gorkha bazaar to Barpak village. Before entering Barpak, the drive passes through several settlements and agriculture belts. From Kathmandu, it is 6 to 7 hours of drive to get into Barpak village.

Accommodation and food

Accommodation: In the 7 days Barpak homestay tour, 3 nights in Kathmandu and another 3 nights in Gorkha district. In the Kathmandu valley, you will stay at the best hotel. But in Barpak, we will stay with the local. Barpak is the most beautiful village of Gorkha district where you will get an opportunity to stay with the local tribes. The houses of this village are well-constructed with the local material with basic facility like beds, blanket, and pillow. While staying on this village, you will get Wi-Fi facility which is not get on other homestay tour. The people of this village are very much friendly who will welcome you with warm heart. If you are planning to visit Barpak village then you must bring sleeping bag with you. It is because the blanket which is given by the host is not enough sometime because the weather of Himalayan region is unpredictable.

Food: For food, you will have the same food as the host take. On this village tour, you will get an opportunity to taste the local cuisine or typical Nepali cuisine like Dhal, Bhat, curry, and vegetable. You can also make your own food on the homestay. In spring: Spring season falls in March till May. This is the best season to do Barpak homestay tour. In spring at Barpak, you will get a chance to see mesmerizing views of mountain with a dense forest of Rhododendron.

In autumn: it is the best time to visit Barpak because the weather and temperature remains pleasant and not so cold. The surrounding of the village gets clear by summer monsoon.

It is not so perfect to go on monsoon, it is because there will be rain everywhere and the road will be muddy and slippery. You can’t go for outdoor activities on monsoon season. In winter, even though it is freezing cold, but the outdoor activities like hiking or trekking is perfect on this beautiful village.
