About Bardia National Park Tour

Bardia national park is the largest protected area of Nepal, known for its vegetation, flora and fauna, variety of mammals, reptiles and birds. This largest protected area was established in 1988 which is also known for Royal Bardia National Park. It takes you through the lush forests and grassland which is perfect for who love to explore forest. The national park is in the area of 968 square kilometers which is situated at the far northwest corner of Nepal. The main motive of the national park is to protect the diversity of decreasing species like tiger and its natural prey species.

In this national park, there are almost 22 Royal Bengal Tiger and 100 one-horned rhino, but these animal sightings are very rare. Besides, it has more than 400 species of birds, 53 species of mammals, 23 species of reptile, and 121 species of fishes are found here. In early 1967, this national park was established as Royal Hunting Reserve and later in 1976; the area was given new name to Royal Karnali Wildlife Reserve to include the area of 386 square kilometers. And later again renamed as Royal Bardi Wildlife Reserve. It is a good chance for you to explore western side with beautiful wildness of Nepal.

On this trip, we get a chance to see endangered animals like royal Bengal tiger and one-horned rhino. Bardia National Park is situated at the lowland Terai region of Nepal with unique and the rural and typical lifestyle of Tharu people. If you are planning to do this tour, then you can plan this trip on spring and autumn because the weather is extremely hot in summer. You also requested to listen to your guide while exploring in the jungle. It is because in the jungle the tiger are roaming around so it is dangerous some time. You also have to keep your all document with you because; you might need sometime during the trip. How to get to Bardia National Park?

We can by road and by air too.

By road: It is 580km from Kathmandu valley. It takes about 12 hours of drive from Kathmandu. If you have lots of time, then you can go with the tourist bus because it is less expensive. The drive gives a chance to explore many small cities with beautiful surrounding of Midwestern Nepal.

By air: The nearest airport is in Nepaljung with 87 kilometers far from Bardia National Park. To start this trip, we will take 1-hour flight from Kathmandu to Nepaljung. From Nepaljung, we will take 3 hours of drive to the park.

Best time for Bardia National Park tour

You can do this tour throughout the year, but the autumn and spring season is considered as the best time for this tour. During these seasons, the landscape of national is covered by greenery and the colorful delights of nature. Bardia national park is situated on Terai region of Nepal, so if you are planning this tour on summer, it is extremely hot in summer. And in the winter the weather is freezing and there will be fog everywhere. So the best time for this national park tour is autumn and spring.
