Short history of Khaptad National Park

The park was established on 1984 with an area of 225 square kilometers on the advice of Khaptad Baba. Firstly, Khaptad Baba moved into the area for the meditation where he spends over 50 years in solitude and later become a renowned saint. There is also Khaptad Baba Ashram near the park where every visitor can visit. The main aim of the park is protecting its rich biodiversity as well as its different habitants which include wetlands, meadows, and woods. Before entering the national park it is needed to take permit, because the park is under the department of National park and wildlife conservation. And you must take trekking permit before embarking here.

This national park is known for its variety of flora and fauna which is home to wide range of habitants and alpine meadows. On this national park, there are almost 224 species of medical herbs, 135 species of flower, 23 species of mammals, 23 species of amphibian, and almost 270 species of birds are preserving here. On this national park, you get an opportunity to see the lush forest of fir, oak, pine, rhododendron and other trees. There are wide verities of butterflies, moths, and insects. Rules and regulation

If you are planning to do Khaptad National Park tour, then you must take permit before entering here. It is because; you are not allowed to enter here without permit. For trekking Khaptad National Park, the best time is autumn and spring season. On these seasons, the temperature and weather is very much pleasant. The range of temperature is about 10 to 20 degree Celsius which is very much pleasant weather for trekking. You can also go on winter monsoon season too, but the path is full of muddy in monsoon and the snow and freezing in winter.
