Day 1 Arrive in Kathmandu
You will be greeted by the representative of Kai expedition after set foot on Tribhuvan international airport. From an airport, you will directly take to the hotel and check in and take some rest. If you want, you can roam around Thamel. -
Day 2 Preparation and Sightseeing
First, we will set up all the climbing and trekking permits. After taking the entire trekking and climbing permit, we will explore the Kathmandu valley. First, we will visit Swayambhunath (the monkey temple), from where you will see the entire Kathmandu Valley from the top of Swayambhunath. After visiting Swayambhunath, we will explore Bouddhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and after exploring around, return to the hotel and rest for a while. In the evening, you can attend evening Aarati at Pashupatinath and return to the hotel and spend overnight. -
Day 3 Drive to Pokhara
From Kathmandu, we will drive to Pokhara after having breakfast. Along the way, the drives pass through the scenic Trishuli and Marsyangadhi rivers. Once you have reached Pokhara, first check in the hotel and rest for a while. In the evening, you can roam around the Phewa Tal, where you can go for boating and enjoy the beautiful sunset views over the high Himalayan. After spending some peaceful time around Phewa Tal, return to the hotel and spend overnight. -
Day 4 Pokhara to Darbang (drive)
From Pokhara, we will drive towards Darbang, which is about 5 to 6 hours of drive. While driving, the trail will pass through numerous villages, amidst terraced crops. After 5 to 6 hours of driving from Kathmandu, we will reach Darbang. Once we reach Darbang, first, we will check in the guesthouse, then after we will explore the village and spend overnight. -
Day 5 Darbang to Phaliya Gaon
Embark on a thrilling trek from Darbang to Phaliya Gaon, which unfolds the beauty of the Himalayas. This place is a perfect blend of nature and comfort. About 5 to 6 hours of walking from Darbang, we will be at Phaliya Gaon and spend overnight. -
Day 6 Phyaliya Gaon to Muri
We will embark an exhilarating trek from Phyaliya Gaon to Muri, where every step is a journey into the heart of the Himalayas. Today’s walk will be shortest, so we will start our trekking late morning. Before leaving Phyaliya Gaon, first, we will explore around the village, then, we will trek towards Muri, which is about 3 to 4 hours away from Phyaliya Gaon. -
Day 7 Muri to Bagar
With a nutritious breakfast, we will move ahead to Bagar from Muri. Along the way to Bagar, we will experience the thrill of the trekking. You will get an opportunity to cross the terraced field and multiple villages with traditional lifestyles that reflect the beauty of life in many ways. -
Day 8 Bagar to Doban Kharka
Today, the walk is an easy one comparatively, where we will be walking through agricultural slopes and terraced fields. On this day, you get to experience the thrill of trekking. After walking for 5 to 6 hours from Bagar, we will be at Doban Kharka, where we will spend overnight. -
Day 9 Doban Kharka to Sallaghari
From Doban Kharka, we will slowly move towards Sallaghari. The trail will take the visitors towards the rhododendron forests. Today the trail is a bit tough one because; we have to walk the steep and uphill trail. -
Day 10 Sallaghari to Italian Base Camp
Today, we will walk to Italian Base Camp. We will traverse the beautiful forest and alongside the spectacular mountain views before entering Italian Base Camp. Along the way to the Italian base camp, we get a mesmerizing view of mountains like Dhaulagiri II, Dhaulagiri III, and Dhaulagiri V. We will be at the Italian base camp after walking for 5 hours from Sallaghari. -
Day 11 Acclimatization and Rest day
On the 11th day of the Dhaulagiri expedition, we will take our first acclimatization at Italian base camp. While trekking at high elevation, it is better to take a rest day to avoid altitude sickness. -
Day 12-40 Summit Dhaulagiri
From day 12 to day 40, the journey towards summiting Dhaulagiri (8167 meters) involves an intense and gradual ascent through a challenging terrain. After acclimatizing in Base Camp, climbers begin ascending towards the higher camps, moving through the perilous icefalls and glaciers that characterize the lower slopes of the mountain. The trek requires meticulous attention to altitude and weather conditions, as the risk of high-altitude sickness, crevasses falls, and avalanches are prevalent. Day by day, climbers adjust to the harsh environment, navigating steep rock sections, ice, and snow-covered slopes. Camp 1 and Camp 2 are critical stopping points where mountaineers rest, refuel, and further acclimatize to prepare for the ultimate push to the summit.
On day 40, climbers make their final ascent towards the summit, which is grueling mix of technical climbing, icy rock faces, and high-altitude exhaustion. The summit push begins in the early morning, often in freezing temperatures, and climbers face extreme weather conditions, including wind, snow, and low visibility. The final stretch to the top of Dhaulagiri is challenging, requiring both physical strength and mental resilience. Upon reaching the summit, climbers are rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks, including Annapurna and Manaslu. The sense of accomplishment is immense, but the descent back to Base Camp demands careful attention, as the risk of injury and fatigue in high after summiting one of the world’s highest mountains.

Day 41 Clean up the base camp
After successfully summiting the Dhaulagiri expedition, we will collect all the garbage produced during the expedition period. The place must be cleaned up to protect the environment. -
Day 42 Dhaulagiri base camp to Yak Kharka
From Dhaulagiri Base Camp, we will slowly walk towards Yak Kharka. Today, we get an opportunity to enter the deepest valley in the world, the Kali Gandaki River. You will be amazed by the Following River and outstanding views of snow-capped mountains in the backdrops. After walking for 6 to 7 hours from Dhaulagiri Base Camp, we will be at Yak Kharka. -
Day 43 Yak Kharka to Marpha
Today, the trail moves uphill until Marpha. On the way, we will pass through a small forest of juniper and other local vegetation. Marpha is famous for the apples and all kinds of apple products. After walking for 5 hours from Yak Kharka, we will be at Marpha. -
Day 44 Drive back to Pokhara
Today, we will take a jeep and slowly move towards Pokhara from Marpha. First, we will drive to Beni, which is about 2 to 3 hours of drive, and once we reach Beni, we will take another bus and slowly drive towards Pokhara. Or you can also drive from Marpha to Jomsom and from Jomsom; you can take a flight to Pokhara. Once you reach Pokhara, first, check in the hotel, and in the evening, you can roam around the city.

Day 45 Drive back to Kathmandu
We will enjoy a scenic drive back to Kathmandu Valley from Pokhara. Along the way, you will be treated to picturesque views and get a glimpse into the local life of the countryside villages. After driving 7 to 8 hours from Pokhara, we will be at Kathmandu and spend overnight here. -
Day 46 Free or rest day at Kathmandu
Today, you go for sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley, or you can also rest for a whole day at the hotel. -
Day 47 Departure day
The guide will be at the hotel lobby to take you to Tribhuvan international airport. The team member of Kai expedition is also there to see you off and hopes that you will give an opportunity to serve you again.
