As you land in Kathmandu, you will meet the representative of Kai expedition waiting for you outside at Tribhuvan international airport. From the airport, you will directly take to the hotel and clear check-in formalities and leave you at the hotel. You can roam around Thamel.

Day 1 Arrive in Kathmandu

Day 2 Preparation and Sightseeing
On the 2nd day of the Himlung Himal expedition, first, we will set up all the climbing and trekking permits. After taking the entire trekking and climbing permit, we will explore the Kathmandu valley. First, we will visit Swayambhunath (the monkey temple), from where you will see the entire Kathmandu Valley from the top of Swayambhunath. After visiting Swayambhunath, we will explore Bouddhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and after exploring around, return to the hotel and rest for a while. In the evening, you can attend evening Aarati at Pashupatinath and return to the hotel and spend overnight. -
Day 3 Drive to Chamje
From Kathmandu, we will slowly drive toward Chamje. Along the way, we will pass through the picturesque trail today from high hills, forested areas, soaring rivers, charming waterfalls, and drive along the bank of Marsyangadhi and Tirushil River.

Day 4 Chamje to Dharapani
Today, the trail ahead will lead you towards the suspension bridge and the trail gets steeper towards Sattae as the valley becomes narrow. The trail is grassy with thin bamboo and sugarcane terrace farmlands. After about 5 to 6 hours trekking, you will reach Dharapani, nestled on a hillside, where you rest for the night.

Day 5 Dharapani to Koto
The trail follows the Marsyangdi River, winding through dense pine forests and charming villages with glimpses of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges. It is a scenic trek with gradual elevation gain, allowing for acclimatization. Upon reaching Koto, a quiet village at the gateway to the Nar-Phu valley, the team prepare to head into more remote terrain, leaving the busier Annapurna Circuit behind. -
Day 6 Koto to Singenge
Today, you will cross the deep gorges and canyons along the way to Singenge. From here, the trail ahead will get steeper as we continue the thrilling experience through gorges and canyons. -
Day 7 Singenge to Kyang
Today’s trek takes from Singenge to the remote settlement of Kyang, following the rugged trail through high-altitude terrain and barren, windswept valleys. The landscapes are stark yet striking, with wide open space, dry riverbeds, and distant snow peaks. As we ascend gradually, signs of human presence of grow scares. -
Day 8 Kyang to Phu
From Kyang, you will head towards a narrow gorge. Today the trail is a steep climb towards the north and witness several chorten and deserted buildings. Before entering Phu village, trekkers get an opportunity to cross a suspension bridge over a large glacial stream. -
Day 9 Acclimatization day at Phu
Today, you will take a rest at Phu, which necessary to take a rest while trekking at a high altitude. You can also go for a short hike in the morning where you can visit Samdo monastery and Cholang monastery, and after exploring around monastery, you will return to the lodge and take a rest. -
Day 10 Phu to Himlung Base Camp
Today is the shortest day’s hike where you will follow the ascending trail cross moraines and head toward yak pasture. Along the way to Himlung Base Camp, you will be amazed by stunning views of the mountain. -
Day 11-21 Summit Himlung Himal
From day 11 to day 21, the Himlung expedition follows a carefully planned progression of acclimatization, preparation, and summit attempts. After arriving at Base Camp on day 11 and 12, resting to adjust to the altitude, climbers begin their ascent by trekking to Camp 1 on day 13 and 14 (at approximately 5500 meters), where they spend the next day acclimatizing and preparing. On day 15 and 16, they continue to Camp 2 (6300 meters), followed by another acclimatization rest. The final push begins on day 17 and 21 as they reach Camp 3, (6700 meters), a high-altitude camp close to the summit route. This period is critical for preparing physically and mentally for the strenuous summit.
On day 19, the summit day, climbers start early to reach the summit of Himlung (7126 meters), navigating through mixed terrain of ice, snow, and rock. After achieving the summit, they descend back to Camp 2 or Base Camp, depending on their energy levels. The final day, day 21, is dedicated to the return journey to Base Camp, where climbers celebrate their successful ascent, pack their gear, and prepare for departure. Throughout this period, careful attention to acclimatization, rest, and weather condition is essential to ensure a safe and successful summit.

Day 22 Clean up the Base Camp
Once we completed summiting the Himlung Himal expedition, we will collect all the garbage produced during the expedition period on this day. It must clean up to protect the environment. -
Day 23 Himlung Base Camp to Phu Village
Once we complete summiting Himlung Himal, on the 23rd day of trekking, we will descent towards Phu village. Along the way, we will traverse across the glacier moraine and boulder-strewn jagged trails and walk for 5 to 6 hours to Phu village and spend overnight.

Day 24 Phu Village to Meta
From Phu to Meta, you will retrace the steps through rugged trails of the Nar-Phu Valley. After around 6 to 7 hours of trekking, you will reach Meta. Upon reached Meta, where you rested and reflected on the high-altitude experience of the past weeks, now drawing closer to the end of the journey. -
Day 25 Meta to Koto
On the day 25 of the Himlung Hilam expedition, the trek continues from Meta to Koto, descending through the beautiful Nar and Phu valleys. As altitude decreases, the air becomes warmer and thicker, providing physical relief after days at high elevation. The trek ends in Koto, where climbers can rest and reflect on their journey, surrounded by the sounds and sights of the lower Himalayas. -
Day 26 Koto to Dharapani
From Koto, we will trek to Dharapani. The trail is steep ahead as we approach the village of Thanchok and Dharmasala. Trekkers will be amazed by the stunning view of the mountain like Lamjung Himal and walking 5 to 6 hours; you will reach Dharapani and spend overnight. -
Day 27 Dharapani to Chamje
Today is the last day of the Himlung Himal expedition where we will walk from Dharapani to Chamje. Along the way, you will hike alongside the area affected by a landslide. After across the landslide, we will steep descent towards a suspension bridge over the Marsyangdhi River. -
Day 28 Drive back to Kathmandu
Today, we will drive back to Kathmandu from Chamje. The road winds through lush hillsides, gradually transitioning to the busier highways leading into the capital. Through the ride is bumpy and can take around 7 to 8 hours depending on road conditions, it’s a final chance to soak in the changing landscapes of Nepal. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, there’s a sense of completion and reflection after weeks of trekking in the Himalayas.

Day 29 Extra day at Kathmandu
Today, you go for sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley, or you can also rest for a whole day at the hotel.

Day 30 Departure day
The guide will be at the hotel lobby to take you to Tribhuvan international airport. The team member of Kai expedition is also there to see you off and hopes that you will give an opportunity to serve you again.
