• Day 1 Arrive in Kathmandu
    You will be greeted by the representative of Kai expedition after set foot on Tribhuvan international airport. From an airport, you will directly take to the hotel and check in and take some rest. If you want, you can roam around Thamel.

  • Day 2 Preparation and Sightseeing
    Today, first, we will set up all the climbing and trekking permits. After taking the entire trekking and climbing permit, we will explore the Kathmandu valley. First, we will visit Swayambhunath (the monkey temple), from where you will see the entire Kathmandu Valley from the top of Swayambhunath. After visiting Swayambhunath, we will explore Bouddhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and after exploring around, return to the hotel and rest for a while. In the evening, you can attend evening Aarati at Pashupatinath and return to the hotel and spend overnight.

  • Day 3 Fly to Bhadrapur, drive to Kanyam
    From Kathmandu, we will take a one-hour flight towards Bhadrapur. After about one-hour of flight from Kathmandu, we will be at Bhandrapur, and from here, we will take a local jeep and slowly drive to Kanyam. Kanyam is about 50 kilometers away from Bhadrapur, which takes approximately 2 to 3 hours to reach and spend overnight.

  • Day 4 Drive towards Taplejung, trek to Chiruwa
    In the early morning, we will take a drive towards Taplejung from Kanyam, which takes approximately 5 to 6 hours. From Taplejung, we will start our first walking trekking of the Kanchenjunga expedition.

  • Day 5 Chiruwa to Sekathum
    From Chiruwa, we will slowly start our trekking towards Sekathum. You will get an opportunity to get into many villages before entering Sekathum and spend overnight.

  • Day 6 Sekathum to Amjilosa
    The trail follows the Ghunsa Khola River, winding through dense forests, narrow gorges, and steep ascents. As you cross several suspension bridges and traverse rocky paths, the landscape becomes increasingly wild and serene. The day’s journey is challenging but rewarding, offering glimpse of waterfalls, diverse flora, and the occasional sighting of Himalayan wildlife. After about 5 to 6 hours of trekking, you will reach the small Tibetan-influenced villages of Amjilosa, nestled on a hillside, where you rest for the night.

  • Day 7 Amjilosa to Gyabla
    The trek from Amjilosa to Gyabla takes around 5 to 6 hours, following a scenic trail through dense forests of bamboo, rhododendron, and oak. The path gradually ascends alongside the Ghunsa Khola River, offering glimpses of waterfalls, wildlife, and traditional Tibetan-style villages. As trekkers move higher, the landscapes becomes more alpine, and the temperature cooler. Upon reaching Gyabla, a Sherpa settlement nestled on a hillside, trekkers are welcomed by stunning views of the unique culture of the high Himalayas.

  • Day 8 Gyabla to Ghunsa

    The trail gently ascends through lush forest and follows the Ghunsa Khola, passing by yak pastures and a small wooden bridge. Along the way, trekkers pass the village of Phole, known for its Tibetan Buddhist culture and handicrafts. As the altitude increases, the landscapes open up to reveal more rugged terrain and snow-capped peaks. Arriving in Ghunsa, a beautiful Sherpa village at around 3430 meters, trekkers can explore the traditional houses, monasteries, and interact with the warm local community.

  • Day 9 Acclimatization and rest day
    On the day 9 of the Kanchenjunga expedition is an acclimatization day at Ghunsa, a picturesque Sherpa village nestled at 3430 meters. You can explore the village, visit the small monasteries, or take a short hike to the surrounding hills for stunning views of the snow-capped peaks. It is also a chance to interact with the friendly locals and experience the unique culture of the region before continuing the ascent.

  • Day 10 Ghunsa to Khangpachen

    From Ghunsa, we will continue our trekking towards Khangpachen along the river bank. After walking 3 hours from Ghunsa, we will be at Ramphuk Kharka. From Ramphuk Kharka, the trail ascends steeply on the opposite side of the Kumbhakarna Glacier, and we will trek to Khangpachen and spend overnight.

  • Day 11 Rest day at Khangpachen

    Day 11 marked the second rest day at Khangpachen during the Kanchenjunga expedition. The team took the opportunity to relax, tend to gear, and enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks. The rest day also allowed you to mentally and physically prepare for the challenging days ahead as you gradually approached higher altitudes.

  • Day 12 Khangpachen to Lhonak

    The trail gradually goes uphill through rocky fields on the hillside along the river, passes the waterfalls and crosses a bridge. The journey is notably more challenging than the preceding days due to the gained altitude, requiring a slow and steady pace.

  • Day 13-35 Summit Mount Kanchenjunga

    From day 13 to day 35, climbers endure the arduous process of acclimatization, navigating treacherous terrain, and battling the extreme conditions at high altitudes. The journey from base camp to higher camps involves navigating through glaciers, rocky ridges, and icefalls, all while adjusting to the thinning air. Weather conditions are often unpredictable, and the risk of avalanches and crevasses adds to the danger, demanding constant vigilance.

    Climbing Kanchenjunga requires a precise and methodical approach, especially as climbers push towards the summit. Days are spent carefully moving between camps at higher altitudes, with each phase of the ascent testing both physical and mental resilience. As the team nears the summit, they face the final, daunting push through freezing, low oxygen levels, and high winds. Success is not just about reaching the peak but about ensuring a safe descent, as the mountain’s remote location and challenging conditions make any expedition inherently dangerous.

  • Day 36 Clean up the Kanchenjunga base camp

    Once we completed summiting the Himlung Himal expedition, we will collect all the garbage produced during the expedition period on this day. It must clean up to protect the environment.

  • Day 37 Trek back to Lhonak

    After summiting the Mount Kanchenjunga, the trek retraces its steps back to Lhonak. The descent is easier on the lungs but demands steady footing across rocky trails and glacial moraine. As you leave the base camp behind, the towering peaks gradually recede into the distance, offering a final glimpse of their icy grandeur. By late afternoon, you return to the quiet settlement of Lhonak, where the familiar chill and solitude welcome you once again.

  • Day 38 Lhonak to Ghunsa
    From Lhonak, the trail gradually returns to greener valleys, passing through familiar landmarks like Kambachen and crossing icy streams and landslide-prone sections. The journey takes around 6 to 7 hours, offering breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks and the chance to reflect on the adventure so far. By late afternoon, you arrive at the welcoming villages of Ghunsa, surrounded by pine forests and traditional stone houses, ready to rest and prepare for the next leg of the expedition.

  • Day 39 Ghunsa to Sele Le
    Today, we will trek toward Sele Le. Before entering Sele Le, we will pass through the dense forest of rhododendrons and continue the hillside. After about 5 to 6 hours of trekking, you will reach Sele Le, where you rest for the night.

  • Day 40 Sele Le to Tseram
    Today, the trekkers will experience the challenging trek, because on this day, you will pass Sinon La, Mirgin La and Sinelapcha La. Along the way to Tseram, the views are superb and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of eastern Nepal.

  • Day 41 Tseram to Yamphudin

    The trek from Tseram to Yamphudin marks a significant transition from the alpine zone to more temperate forests and village life. The trail descends steeply through lush rhododendron and bamboo forests, crossing several suspension bridges and cascading streams. As elevation drops, the air grows warmer and thicker, and signs of rural life reappear. After a long and demanding day on the trail, you finally reach the village of Yamphudin, a welcome sight nestled among terraced fields and hills-signaling the approach of the expedition end.

  • Day 42 Yamphudin to Khebang
    As the team descends further into the lower hills, the trail passes through lush forests, terraced fields, and traditional Limbu villages. The warmer climate and vibrant rural life offer a stark contrast to the remote alpine terrain left behind. The walk is easier, through long, and filled with cultural encounters and scenic beauty. Reaching Khebang signals the nearing end of the trek, bringing a sense of accomplishment and reflection on the adventure.

  • Day 43 Khebang to Birtamode
    Leaving the hills behind, the route follows winding roads through the lush lowlands of eastern Nepal, transitioning from remote mountain villages to bustling region, the landscapes flattens, and the warm, humid air replace the crisp mountain breeze.

  • Day 44 Fly back to Kathmandu from Bhadrapur
    From Birtamode, we will drive towards Bhadrapur. Once we reach Bhadrapur, we will take a flight towards Kathmandu. After 45 minutes of flight from Bhadrapur, we will land at Kathmandu. Upon arrive at Kathmandu, you are directly take to the hotel and spend overnight here.

  • Day 45 Free day in Kathmandu

    Today, you go for sightseeing around the Kathmandu Valley, or you can also rest for a whole day at the hotel.

  • Day 46 Departure day
    The guide will be at the hotel lobby to take you to Tribhuvan international airport. The team member of Kai expedition is also there to see you off and hopes that you will give an opportunity to serve you again.
