• Day 1 Arrive in Kathmandu

    Once you perch at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a team member of Kai Expedition and clear immigration formalities. After completing immigration formalities, you will be transferred to your hotel where you can relax and recover from your journey. In the evening, there will be a brief orientation session to introduce the team, review the itinerary, and ensure you are fully prepared for the adventure ahead.

  • Day 2 Sightseeing and preparation for trekking

    You will focus on final trekking preparations and sightseeing around Kathmandu. The day begins with a gear check and final briefing to ensure you are fully equipped for the Amphu Lapcha Pass trek. Afterward, you will explore some of Kathmandu’s cultural highlights, such as the sacred Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), the historic Kathmandu Durbar Square, and the spiritual Pashupatinath Temple or Bouddhanath Stupa. It is a perfect blend of practical readiness and cultural immersion before heading into the Himalayas.

  • Day 3 Fly to Lukla (30-minutes)-Paiya

    Today, you will take an early morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, a thrilling journey offering stunning aerial views of the Himalayas. Once you set foot at the gateway to the Khumbu region, the trek begins with a scenic hike through lush forests and small Sherpa villages. You will descend and cross a few suspension bridges before reaching the peaceful settlement of Paiya, where you will rest for the night in preparation for the days ahead.

  • Day 4 Paiya – Panggom
    The journey continues from Paiya to Panggom. You will pass through small traditional villages and terraced farmland, experiencing the authentic culture of the Lower Solu region. As the path ascends gradually to Panggom, the air becomes crisper, and the surrounding more remote. After several hours of steady trekking, the day ends upon reaching the Sherpa villages of Panggom, known for its warm hospitality and stunning mountain views.

  • Day 5 Panggom – Ningsow

    The trail leads from Panngom to Ningsow, offering a more challenging and remote section of the journey. The route descends and ascends again through rugged terrain and pristine wilderness, with few signs of human settlements. Wildlife such as Himalayan thars or pheasants may be spotted along the way. After a full day of trekking, the trail arrives at the quiet villages of Ningsom, nestled in a peaceful forested valley.

  • Day 6 Ningsow – Chhatra Khola
    Today, the journey will continue from Ningsow to Chhatra Khola, a scenic route that takes about 6 to 7 hours. You will pass through parts of the Makalu Barun National Park, rich in biodiversity and known for its peaceful, less-trodden paths. The descent and ascent along the way can be challenging but rewarding, with occasional views of distant glaciers. Chhatra Khola is a quiet riverside campsite, marks the end of the day’s trek and offers a serene place to rest before heading deeper into the remote alpine terrain.

  • Day 7 Chhatra Khola – Kothe
    We will continue our trekking from Chhatra Khola to Kothe, passing through rhododendron and bamboo forests along the Hinku Valley. The trail gradually ascends, following the Hinku Khola River, with occasional crossings over wooden bridges. Reaching Kothe, a small settlement nestled in the valley, provides a comfortable stop with basic teahouses and a welcome rest before gaining more altitude in the days ahead.

  • Day 8 Kothe – Thaknak

    The journey continues from Kothe to Thaknak. The path gradually ascends through lush juniper forests and yak pastures, with stunning views of Mera Peak and surrounding Himalayan giants. As you climb higher, the vegetation thins, and the air becomes crisper, signaling entry into the alpine zone. After 3 to 4 hours of steady trekking, you arrive at Thaknak, a small settlement nestled beneath towering cliffs, serving as a vital acclimatization stop before heading higher towards Khare and the pass.

  • Day 9 Thaknak – Khare

    The journey continues from Thaknak to Khare, a relatively short but challenging hike through rugged alpine terrain. The trail ascends steadily alongside the Dig Glacier, offering striking views of the surrounding peaks like Kusum Kanguru and Mera Peak. As you approach Khare, the landscape becomes more dramatic, with snow-capped ridges and glacial moraines dominating the scenery.

  • Day 10 Acclimatization day at Khare

    On the day 10 of the Amphu Lapcha pass trek, you will take an acclimatization or rest day at Khare, which is a crucial stop before tackling the challenging Amphu Lapcha Pass. The day is typically used for short hikes to a nearby ridge to aid acclimatization, gear checks, and preparing for the more technical sections ahead. It also provides time to enjoy the panoramic views of Mera Peak and surrounding Himalayan giants while ensuring the body is ready for the demanding days to come.

  • Day 11 Khare – Mera High Camp

    Today, you will trek from Khare to Mera High Camp, where the trail is gradually climbing through rocky trails and icy terrain. As you leave Khare behind, the route traverses the Mera Glacier, requiring the use of crampons and proper gear. The high-altitude environment becomes more intense, with breathtaking views of the High Mountain of this region unfolding around you. Reaching Mera High Camp at around 5780 meters, you settle in for the night, surrounded by towering peaks and preparing for the upcoming summit and Amphu Lapcha crossing.

  • Day 12 Walk to Kongma Dingma

    The trek begins early in the morning ascent from Mera High Camp to the summit of Mera Peak, offering panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and other Himalayan giants. After celebrating the summit, the descent follows a steep and demanding route over the Mera La and down to Kongma Dingma, a remote and less-traveled area in the Upper Hinku Valley. The path is physically challenging and requires careful footing over glacial terrain, with Amphu Lapcha Pass looming ahead as the next major obstacle.

  • Day 13 Rest day at Kongma Dingma

    This day is a well-deserved rest day at Kongma Dingma, allowing you to recover from the demanding Mera Peak ascent and prepare for the technical challenge of the Amphu Lapcha Pass ahead. Surrounded by towering peaks and glacial landscapes, this remote campsite offers a peaceful setting for acclimatization. The day may include light walks or gear checks, ensuring everyone is physically ready and properly equipped for the steep, icy crossing of the Amphu Lapcha the following day.

  • Day 14 Kongma Dingma – Panch Pokhari

    The trek from Kongma Dingma to Panch PokharI takes you deeper into the remote upper Hunku Valley, gradually gaining altitude as you approach the base of Amphu Lapcha Pass. The trail is rugged and less-travelled, offering stark alpine and scenery with sweeping views of the surrounding peaks like Chamlang and Baruntse.

  • Day 15 Trek to Amphu Lapcha Base Camp (5650m / 6-7hours)

    From Seto Pokhari to Amphu Lapcha Base Camp, the trail navigates over glacier moraines and rocky ridges, with increasingly dramatic views of surrounding peak like Ama Dablam and Lhotse. The path demands careful footing as you approach the base of the formidable Amphu Lapcha Pass. The base camp offers a stark and awe-inspiring landscape that is perfect for acclimatization and final preparations before the technical climb over the pass.

  • Day 16 Walk to Chhukung
    The trek continues with a challenging descent from Amphu Lapcha Pass into Imja Valley, leading towards Chhukung. As you leave the remote wilderness behind stunning views of Island Peak, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam begin to dominate the skyline. The trek gradually eases as you approach Chhukung; a small Sherpa village nestled in the heart of the Khumbu region, offering a much-needed rest after a strenuous and technical crossing.

  • Day 17 Chhukung – Namche Bazaar

    From Chhukung, you will trek descends to Namche Bazaar. Along the way, you will pass through alpine forests, mani walls and monasteries, including the famous Tengboche Monastery. The descent becomes more comfortable as you re-enter lower altitudes, eventually reaching the vibrant town of Namche Bazaar, where warm lodges, shops and a lively atmosphere await.

  • Day 18 Namche Bazaar – Lukla

    The trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla is the final stretch of the journey after the challenging yet rewarding crossing of Amphu Lapcha Pass. With the high passes behind, the walk offers a reflective and scenic return, blending fatigue with a sense of accomplishment. Arriving in Lukla, you will prepare for departure cherishing the memories of the Everest region’s rugged beauty and cultural richness.

  • Day 19 Fly back to Kathmandu

    From Lukla, you will take a flight back to Kathmandu, concluding your trek through the Himalayas. Upon arrival at Kathmandu, there is time to relax, reflect on journey, and enjoy the comforts of city life after several days in the mountains.

    After a final breakfast in the Kathmandu Valley, the team member of Kai Expedition will take you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward flights, carrying with you lasting memories of Nepal.
