• Day 1 Arrive in Kathmandu
    You will be greeted by the representative of Kai expedition after set foot on Tribhuvan international airport. From an airport, you will directly take to the hotel and check in and take some rest. If you want, you can roam around Thamel.

  • Day 2 Sightseeing and Preparation
    In the early morning, we will attend the morning Aarati at Pashupatinath and spend some peaceful time around the temple. After spending some time around the temple, we will set up all the climbing and trekking permits. After taking the entire trekking and climbing permit, we will explore the Kathmandu valley. First, we will visit Swayambhunath (the monkey temple), from where you will see the entire Kathmandu Valley from the top of Swayambhunath. After visiting Swayambhunath, we will explore Bouddhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and after exploring around, return to the hotel and spend overnight.

  • Day 3 Fly to Lukla and short trek to Chhuthang
    From Kathmandu, we will take a short flight towards Lukla. On this short flight, the flight provides you with the most fabulous views of snow-capped mountains. Once we reach Lukla, we will start our trekking towards Chhuthang. The trail towards Chhuthang passes through green forests and pastures. Along the way, trekkers also get the opportunity to pass through beautiful hamlets.

  • Day 4 Chhuthang to Thuli Kharka
    From Chhuthang, we will trek towards Thuli Kharka, and the trail towards Thuli Kharka is quite remote and steep. Today the trail will follow a steep path and ups and downs. After walking from 5 to 6 hours from Chhuthang, we will reach Thuli Kharka and spend overnight here.

  • Day 5 Thuli Kharka to Kothe
    With a hot and nourishing breakfast, we will trek towards Kothe from Thuli Kharka. Along the way to Kothe, we will pass through a lush forest dotted with juniper, pine, oak, and rhododendron. The gradual trail alongside the river is quite scenic with snow-capped mountains, including Kusum Kanguru peak, Mera Peak, and other. Today, we will head down to the riverbed of the Hinku River before entering Kothe and spend overnight.

  • Day 6 Kothe to Thangnak
    Today, the journey will be shorter but most exciting. We will pass along the Hinku River for a while before reaching Gondishung, and the path will cross the Lungsumgba Gompa. Along the way to Thngnak, visitors will welcome with a mesmerizing view of Kusum Kanguru Peak, Mera Peak and other snow-capped peaks.

  • Day 7 Thangnak to Khare
    There will be an astonishing view to enjoy along the way to Khare. The trail led us to a moraine that further passes through a beautiful valley. From the way, the view of Mera peak looks fantastic. About 5 hours of walking from Thangnak, we will reach Khare and spend overnight here.

  • Day 8 Acclimatization or rest day at Khare
    On the 8th day of the Barnutse expedition, we will take a rest at Khare. While trekking at high-altitude, it is better to take a rest to avoid altitude sickness. On this day, we will do a short hike to Mera Glacier, and we will trace the glacier through a steep path. After hiking for a short time, we will return to Khare and spend overnight here.

  • Day 9 Khare to Mera La Pass
    From Khare, we will trek towards Mera La Pass. The trail passes from Khare following rocky terrain to arrive at Mera. We will climb slowly and carefully and after several hours of walking will take us to the top of the ridge. Along the way to Mera La Pass, we will observe magical views of the snow-capped mountain of the Everest Mahalangur region from the mountain pass.

  • Day 10 Mera La Pass to Seto Pokhari
    We will leave Mera La Pass and slowly trek towards Seto Pokhari. The trek will begin with an uphill climb, and right across, we will reach a meadow area, a yak pasture. Along the way to Seto Pokhari, we will enjoy the views of the rising peaks and higher valleys, and as we trek more and reach Seto Pokhari, you will be welcomed by lakes and mountains.

  • Day 11 Seto Pokhari to Baruntse Base Camp
    Today, you will move towards Baruntse Base Camp. After walking for 4 to 5 hours from Seto Pokhari, we will be at Baruntse Base Camp. Today, the routes will be demanding as you cross rugged terrain. As you reach Baruntse Base Camp, the team member will set up the camp, where you are going to spend 26 nights over here.

  • Day 12-27 Summit Mount Baruntse

    The journey to Mount Baruntse is a challenging and exhilarating expedition. After reaching the Base Camp on day 12, the climber focus on acclimatization and preparing for the ascent. The following days are spent moving through higher camps, with climbers gradually ascending to Camp I and then Camp II, each providing more opportunities for rest and adjustment to the altitude. As the days progress, the weather and the terrain become more demanding, with steep sections and unpredictable conditions testing the climbers’ endurance.

    By day 22, the team is poised to make their summit attempt. They typically spend Day 23 resting and gathering energy at a high camp, carefully monitoring the weather forecasts. Then, on day 24, the climbers begin their final push, navigating the treacherous ice slopes and rocky terrain towards the summit of Baruntse. The altitude becomes extreme, and every step demands intense focus and careful decision-making to avoid fatigue or injury. On day 27, with determination and resilience, they reach the summit, taking in the breathtaking views before descending back to Base Camps for recovery. The entire journey is physically and mentally demanding but ultimately rewarding for those who successfully summit this formidable peak.

  • Day 28 Clean up the base camp
    Once we completed summiting the Baruntse expedition, we will collect all the garbage produced during the expedition period on this day. The place must be cleaned up to protect the environment.

  • Day 29 Baruntse base camp to Mera La Pass
    From Base Camp, we will trek descent to Mera La Pass. Today is the last day to walk, where the route is steeper. We will take the same route to get to Baruntse Base Camp. After walking for 5 to 6 hours from Baruntse Base Camp, you will reach Mera La Pass. After reaching Mera La Pass, the team member will set up the camp and spend overnight.

  • Day 30 Mera La Pass to Thangnak
    Today, we will walk with a gentle uphill from the Mera La Pass. Before reaching Thangnak, we will pass through Khare village. After walking for 6 to 7 hours from Mera La Pass, we will be at Thangnak and spend overnight here.

  • Day 31 Thangnak to Kothe
    We will leave Thangnak and trek to Kothe. Today, the trail is mostly downhill and crosses a lush forest of Pine and Oak. Along the way to Kothe, climbers will enjoy the chirps of birds and the forest’s healing sound. After walking for 4 to 5 hours from Thangnak, we will arrive at Kothe and spend overnight here.

  • Day 32 Kothe to Thuli Kharka
    With a gentle uphill walk, we will leave Kothe, and trek towards Thuli Kharka. Along the path, we will cross a lush area, experiencing true nature. The trail will gradually ascend along the route, passing through the dense forest. Along the way to Thuli Kharka, climbers will be amazed by magical views of snow-capped mountains.

  • Day 33 Thuli Kharka to Lukla
    Today, we will begin by climbing a ridge, Kalo Himal and after climb, we will ascend another hill to reach or cross Zatrawala Pass. Along the way to Lukla, we will be amazed by the mesmerizing views of the mountain. After walking for 5 to 6 hours from Thuli Kharka, we will reach Lukla.

  • Day 34 Fly back to Kathmandu
    From Lukla, we will take a short flight to Kathmandu valley. After 30 minutes of flight, we will reach Kathmandu Valley. From a domestic airport, you will directly take to the hotel. In the evening, you can roam around Thamel and spend overnight in Kathmandu.

  • Day 35 Extra day at Kathmandu
    This day is extra day, if the flights delay due to bad weather on the previous day.

  • Day 36 Departure day
    The guide will be at the hotel lobby to take you to Tribhuvan international airport. The team member of the Kai expedition is also there to see you off and hopes that you will give an opportunity to serve you again.
