• Day 1 Arrive in Kathmandu

    Once you perch at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a team member of Kai Expedition and clear immigration formalities. After completing immigration formalities, you will be transfer to your hotel where you can relax and recover from your journey. In the evening, there will be a brief orientation session to introduce the team, review the itinerary, and ensure you are fully prepared for the adventure ahead.

  • Day 2 Sightseeing and preparation for trekking

    You will focus on final trekking preparation and sightseeing around Kathmandu. The day begins with a gear check and final briefing to ensure you are fully equipped for the Thorong La Pass trek. Afterward, you will explore some of Kathmandu’s cultural highlights, such as the scared Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Bouddhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, and the historic Kathmandu Durbar Square. It is a perfect blend of practical readiness and cultural immersion before heading into the Himalayas.

  • Day 3 Drive to Chame via Besisahar
    Early in the morning, you will leave Kathmandu and begin the long but scenic drive to Chame. The journey takes around 9 to 10 hours, transitioning from the busy city roads to rugged mountain terrain. Along the way to Chame, you will pass through lush hills, rivers, waterfalls, and traditional villages, catching glimpses of the snow-capped peaks in the distance. The road becomes rougher as you ascend, especially after Besisahar, but the dramatic views and changing landscapes make it an unforgettable experience. You will reach by evening, where you can rest and acclimatize in preparation for the trek ahead.

  • Day 4 Chame to Pisang

    You will begin your trek from Chame, a scenic hike that takes around 5 to 6 hours. The trail follows the Marsyangdi River, winding through dense pine forests, alpine landscapes, and narrow valleys surrounded by towering cliffs. Along the way to Pisang, you will pass through traditional villages and prayer wheels, gradually immersing yourself in the rich Tibetan-influenced culture of the region. You will arrive in Pisang by afternoon, where you can explore the villages and enjoy panoramic mountain views before sitting in for the night.

  • Day 5 Pisang to Manang
    The journey continues with a scenic trek from Pisang to Manang, ascending through stunning Himalayan landscapes. Depending on the chosen route, either the lower trail through Hongde or the more challenging upper trail via Ghyaru and Ngawal, trekkers are rewarded with breathtaking views of Annapurna II, III, IV, and Gangapurna. The upper route, through longer and more strenuous, offers richer cultural encounters and dramatic vistas. As you approach Manang, the terrain becomes more arid, and the effects of altitude become more noticeable.

  • Day 6 Acclimatization day at Manang

    Today is the first acclimatization day of the Thorong La Pass Trek at Manang, where you will spend a whole day at this beautiful village, to help the body adjust to the increasing altitude. Trekkers typically take short hikes to nearby viewpoints like Gangapurna Lake or the hills above Manang for panoramic views of Annapurna and surrounding peaks. This rest is very important to prevent altitude sickness and offers a chance to explore local culture, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Manang.

  • Day 7 Manang to Yak Kharka
    In the early morning, we will start trekking towards Yak Kharka. Along the way to Yak Kharka, the trail climbs steadily out of the Marshyangdi Valley, passing through Juniper forests, meadows, and scattered yak pastures with stunning views of Annapurna II, Gangapurna, and other snow-capped peaks. The trek takes about 4 to 5 hours, ending in the small settlement of Yak Kharka, a quiet stop ideal for acclimatization before the higher altitude ahead.

  • Day 8 Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi
    The trail from Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi involves a steady but challenging ascent as you move deeper into the high Himalayas. The path winds through rocky terrain and landslide-prone areas, offering dramatic views of barren cliffs and snow-capped peaks. The hike takes about 3 to 4 hours and is crucial for acclimatization before the demanding ascent over Thorong La Pass the next day.

  • Day 9 Thorong Phedi to Muktinath
    Before starting trekking towards Muktinath, you will pass Thorong La Pass and slowly trek towards Muktinath. The day begins early, with a steep and steady ascent through rugged terrain and thin air, demanding physical endurance and mental strength. From the top of Thorong La, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of snow-capped peaks. Once you explore around the Thorong La Pass, you will slowly trek towards Muktinath, where you will take a rest and end the day at this beautiful place.

  • Day 10 Muktinath to Jomsom
    From Muktinath, we will slowly trek towards Jomsom, which is a relatively easy and scenic journey. After visiting the sacred Muktinath temple, the trail descends through the arid, wind-swept landscapes of the Mustang region, passing through traditional villages like Jharkot and Kagbeni, rich in Tibetan culture. Once you arrive at Jomsom, you can take a rest after completing the Thorong La Pass trek.

  • Day 11 Fly to Pokhara from Jomsom

    Today, we will take a scenic flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. The short flight, typically around 20 minutes, marks the end of your trek to Thorong La Pass. Once in Pokhara, you can relax by the lakeside, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere, and take in the dramatic contrast from the high mountain terrain of the past few days.

  • Day 12 Drive back to Kathmandu

    Today, you will drive back to Kathmandu from Pokhara, a journey of approximately 6 to 8 hours through scenic hills, rivers, and traditional Nepali villages. Along the way to Kathmandu, the drive offers a chance to reflect on your Himalayan adventure while enjoying the diverse landscapes of central Nepal. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you can unwind, explore the city’s vibrant streets, or shop for souvenirs in Thamel.

  • Day 13 Departure day
    After a final breakfast in the Kathmandu Valley, the team member of Kai Expedition will take you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward flights, carrying with you lasting memories of Nepal.
