Kathmandu is not only the capital city of Nepal but a hub for culture, traditions, religions, modernism, and overall a mix of humanity. During your visit, you can spend your time doing a lot of interesting activities in this city, except for the basic tourist cliches. We at Ganga Jamuna Adventure Treks will certainly help you plan out your stay, and enjoy the following activities!

Market Walk at Ason

Ason is the oldest market in the valley, crowded in huge numbers by the locals at all times, this market is a go-to for any Kathmanduite, be it fresh vegetables, varieties of spices, handicrafts, clothes, or books, this place has it all. An evening walk around the Ason Bazaar is among the best experiences you can get during your visit. A 10-minute walk from the bustling tourist center at Thamel takes us to Ason Bazaar. The fast-moving scenario and the chaos are something to be exposed to. Get your cameras ready, and your shoelaces tied!

Shivapuri Hiking

Shivapuri is a hiking destination in the northern end of Kathmandu Valley. The Shivapuri National Park almost covers the north, east, and west of the valley. A short day hiking if you are in a limited time frame, does give you a peek into trekking in Nepal, and takes you away from the hustle, bustle, and pollution of the capital in a few hours of time. You can enjoy a birds-eye view of the valley upon reaching the summit at Shivapuri. Fun Fact: The sources of the two rivers you see in Kathmandu, Bagmati, and Bishnumati, are in the Shivapuri National Park.

UNESCO Heritages of the Valley

Kathmandu Valley hosts several of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites as well. A day can be spent visiting these marvels of ancient Kathmandu. Start off visiting the Monkey Temple of Swayambhunath Stupa, then to the Boudhanath Stupa, two of the biggest Buddhist sites in Kathmandu. Then get to the biggest Hindu Temple in Kathmandu - Pashupatinath Temple. In the evening, stroll around and reach the Kathmandu Durbar Square, if you are with luck, you get to catch a glimpse of the living Goddess Kumari Devi. You may squeeze in Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square during this time as well, some of the most well preserved sites in Kathmandu. If you are in Bhaktapur, do not forget to taste the sweet desert, the King of Yoghurt, JuJu Dhau.
